What aspect of your business are you going to focus on in 2020?

Most SMEs (Small/Medium enterprises) find themselves stretched thin (with time and money) and despite all good intentions, there are generally three elements that are put on the backburner:

1. Management

Small business owners are responsible for managing all aspects of their company. Management is commonly defined as the alignment and coordination of multiple activities in an organization. Business owners use management skills to accomplish the goals and objectives of their company.

2. Advertising

As a general rule of thumb, companies should spend around 5 percent of their total revenue on marketing to maintain their current position. Companies looking to grow or gain greater market share should budget a higher percentage—usually around 10 percent.

3. Business growth

Business growth can be achieved either by boosting the top line or revenue of the business with greater product sales or service income, or by increasing the bottom line or profitability of the operation by minimizing costs.

Let’s be honest. Mostly you are busy running your business and have very little time and energy to focus on anything else. Who has got time to work on team building, advertising strategies or focus on growth when there is work to be done. And yet, the large companies who focus on those elements seem to grow by leaps and bounds.

So what keeps the average small or medium sized business from growing?

It’s really a catch 22. You can’t afford to hire staff to deal with all the various necessary elements, but you also don’t have time or the knowhow to do it all yourself. Finding a way to break out of the vicious cycle is to think outside the box and outsourcing work.

Establish your strong points and your struggles. Numbers and payroll not your thing? Outsource it to a competent book keeper. Social media all Greek to you? Get in touch. We can help with all your marketing needs.
